Virtual Commencement Experience May 16 & 17

Created by an incredible team of alumni, staff, faculty, and Miami students, we are transforming our traditional May celebrations into a dynamic event designed to honor our graduates, showcase the Miami Experience, and be enjoyed by family, friends, and alumni from anywhere across the world.

  • 2:30 p.m. College of Engineering and Computing (CEC)
  • 5:00 p.m. College of Arts and Science (CAS)

Sunday, May 17

  • 9:30 a.m. Graduate School, Master's and Doctoral Candidates
  • 12:00 p.m. College of Education, Health and Society (EHS)
  • 2:30 p.m. Farmer School of Business (FSB)
  • 5:00 p.m. College of Creative Arts (CCA)

How do I participate?

Everyone can view the livestream ceremony by tuning in through or Facebook Live.

Graduates (and faculty/staff) can view the livestream ceremony through or Facebook Live; AND/OR, choose to view from within an immersive environment by logging into their Miami account, accessing the “Virtual Commencement Experience” course, and using the directions and link provided that day. By computer, mobile device, or VR headset, graduates and university faculty/staff can enjoy the livestream as well as the interactive components available only to them, and seen/heard only by them, within this environment.

Virtual Commencement Program

Each ceremony will begin with a series of videos depicting campus beauty, student experiences, and performances (20+ min). The next portion of each ceremony will contain the musical elements and commencement speeches that are typically part of our in-person, main, and divisional ceremonies:

  • Pomp and Circumstance
  • Announcer - Mr. Steve Baker
  • President Greg Crawford
  • Jaylen Perkins, ASG President (shown during all except the Graduate School and CLAAS ceremonies)
  • Dr. Renate Crawford
  • Governor Mike DeWine
  • Dean of the specific college/school (shown only during their divisional ceremony)
  • Divisional Speaker (shown only during the ceremony of the division that invited them)
  • Conferral of Degrees -- President Greg Crawford
  • Miami Alma Mater

Each ceremony will conclude with brief messages to the Class of 2020 from special, guest Miamians. You won't want to miss a thing.

Undergraduate, master's, and specialist degree candidates are encouraged to attend as many of the ceremonies as pertain to their degree(s).

Featured Guest or Message from the President

Ohio Governor Mike DeWineOhio Gov. Mike DeWine will be the commencement speaker at Miami’s spring ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Yager Stadium. A 1969 Miami graduate, DeWine was elected as the 70th governor of Ohio on November 6, 2018. 

The Cedarville Republican has had a long and distinguished career in public service, focusing on protecting Ohio's children and families.

In-Person Graduation Ceremony September 12 & 13, 2020

Students are prohibited from wearing their robes and caps in to Yager Stadium.

City of Oxford parking regulations remain in effect for Commencement weekend.
