Faculty Writing Fellows Program

A large group of faculty fellows pose for a photo, all holding certificates.

Every semester, Howe Writing Across the Curriculum (HWAC) hosts our innovative Faculty Writing Fellows Program. The Program supports faculty, departments, and university offices in their efforts to teach students to write more effectively in their discipline and promote deep learning.

We discuss theory and research about writing, teaching, learning, curriculum design, and assessment. Faculty then work in teams to draw on their disciplinary expertise and revise curricula and courses. Over 120 Miami faculty from every Miami division have completed the Fellows program since its inception in 2017 (see our Miami Spotlight series for Fellows features). We continue to support Fellows after their time in the program through alumni events, grants, and the Howe Writing Center's Writing Associate Program.

Contact Elizabeth Wardle (wardleea@miamioh.edu) for more information. We hope you’ll decide to join us as a Fellow!

Graduate students: In 2019-2020, we hosted our first Graduate Writing Fellows Program. Please email Elizabeth Wardle (wardleea@miamioh.edu) if you are interested in joining a future cohort.
