Parental Leave
As part of Miami's effort to foster a successful work/life balance, benefit-eligible employees are provided with paid parental leave to be used following the birth or adoption of a child.
How to Apply
- Complete and submit the Request for Parental Leave form.
- Once submitted, eligibility will be verified and request for medical certification faxed to your physician to complete and return by secured fax.
- After medical certification has been submitted notification will be sent via your Miami email and United States Postal Service within five (5) business days (unless the University is closed).
- Your physician has fifteen (15) days to return your completed medical certification.
- From the time you submit your FMLA Request, you have fifteen (15) days to be in FMLA pending status.
