Classified (SATSS) Posting and Timeline

Create or revise a Job Description to be used in the posting of the vacancy.

Two or Three Weeks Prior to Posting

  • Create or revise a Job Description to be used in the posting of the vacancy.
    • The posting must include the basic Job Summary, Job Duties, and Minimum Qualifications as they are listed in Classified (Hourly) Pay Zones and Job Descriptions (Under Manager Resources > Compensation > Classified Pay Zones/Job Descriptions). Additional duties or descriptors can be added if you desire.
    • The Minimum Qualifications cannot be altered.
  • Create a success profile for your ideal candidate for the position using the Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications for the position.
  • Determine who will be on the Search Committee for the selection process. Block time on Committee members’ calendars to ensure ample meeting time is available.

One or Two Weeks Prior to Posting

  • All requests to post vacant positions must be reviewed and approved by your Department (which could be 1-5 levels of approval), Human Resources, OEEO, Budget and Division. Please allow ample time for this approval process.

Week Following Position Posted

  • After HR posts the position, the Search Committee will receive an email stating the position has been posted.
  • The Search Committee is permitted to review the applicants, start the interview process, and submit the Employment Recommendation only after the position has been posted for at least 3 days.
