The awards will be applicable towards university tuition.
Applicant Qualifications:
"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no 'brief candle' to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."
Dr. Warren Nelson's work in life seems to exemplify the above quote. He was always involved in the community, whether it was through his involvement at the American University in Lebanon or through community service guidance with chapters at Miami University. He is remembered as a man who was quick to extend a helping hand. A leader in the Oxford community, people he worked with affectionately called themselves "Warren Nelson groupies." Before his death, he was the driving force behind community service efforts on campus and refused to take credit for efforts he himself had planned.
