BM Performance, Julliard
Hailed by Alan Kozinn in the New York Times as giving “a magnificent performance: precise, passionate, and supple”, horn player Molly Norcross is equally at home in the back of the orchestra as she is taking center stage in chamber music and solo performances. She is the Acting Associate Principal Horn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which she joined in 2019 as Assistant Principal/Utility Horn. During the summers, she serves as Principal Horn of the New Hampshire Music Festival and Co-Principal Horn of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. She was previously Principal Horn of the Fort Worth Symphony and Associate Principal/Third Horn of the San Antonio Symphony.
An avid chamber musician, Ms. Norcross performs regularly in the Cincinnati area with brass and woodwind quintets composed of colleagues from the CSO. She has participated in numerous chamber music series throughout Texas, Ohio, and New Hampshire, as well as performances in Lucerne, Switzerland and Tokyo.
From Mozart to Messiaen and beyond, Ms. Norcross has enjoyed bringing the horn into the spotlight with concerto performances of varied repertoire with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, New Hampshire Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Juilliard Orchestra, and New Juilliard Ensemble. She also incorporates works for the lesser known Wagner tuba and natural horn in her recital programs, appearing in several Ohio venues, as well as New York, Boston, and Taipei.
Ms. Norcross received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, with additional studies at the New England Conservatory, studying with William Purvis, Jennifer Montone and Richard Sebring, respectively.
She is excited to share the wisdom and passion of her teachers and colleagues with the next generation of musicians as she joins the brass faculty at Miami University and serves as an adjunct teacher at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
