…is an Environmental Program Analyst for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Though she is currently working on the chemical aspects of streams, she previously worked on the benthos of Missouri streams doing bioassessment research. Her scientific endeavors can be grouped into the fields of stream ecology and entomology. Her research focuses on macroinvertebrate communities in small streams and her favorite taxonomic group is Plecoptera. The stoneflies are not only beautiful, but also are useful indicators of water quality and temperature changes. Aquatic insects in ephemeral streams have some especially amazing adaptations to harsh environmental conditions. Aside from work, she enjoys reading while enjoying a cup of tea, taking long walks in nature while practicing her bird identifications, and watching Mystery Science Theater 3000.
