Student Resources

The information below is offered as a guide to use the Career Services & Professional Development office and this website. It is not a definitive list, as each student will have distinct needs and will take different paths to reach their professional goals. However, it is a meaningful introduction to our services and the various ways Miami Regionals students can be actively involved in their career and professional development. Use the links below to investigate our site. For those services not linked, please connect with the Career Services & Professional Development office to learn more about our on-campus events.

Tips for using Career Services & Professional Development

Career Services & Professional Development is here to help from your very first day at Miami Regionals to graduation and beyond. Here are some tips for getting the most out of CSPD’s available resources.

Schedule an appointment

Schedule an appointment with us sometime in your first or second year. We are excited to get to know you and help you develop your career path and goals! Whether you’re exploring many careers or have a dream job in mind, we can work with you to come up with a plan that’s tailored to your unique interests and skills. We'll use your class standing to make recommendations for action steps you can take right now. This may take more than one appointment, so we recommend meeting with us sooner rather than later to get a headstart on your career.

Check out Handshake

Set up your Handshake account. All you have to do is log in with your unique ID and password, and you’ll be able to schedule career advising appointments, gain access to job/internship opportunities exclusive to Miami students, and sign up for our events and workshops. Employers may come across your Handshake profile, so make sure to complete your profile by filling in relevant details about yourself.

Build your resume

Start developing a resume early in your first semester and update it yearly. You never know what work or internship opportunities might come along! We can review your resume regularly, and we recommend that you upload a copy to your profile on Handshake and make it visible so employers can learn more about you.

Attend our events and workshops

We host career and internship fairs, an etiquette dinner, and career development workshops, all designed to provide you with the connections and skills you need to be successful in your career. Check out Handshake to view and register for our upcoming events.

Get started on your job search

As you apply for internships and full-time jobs, we’re here to help with your search. We can help you practice interviewing, review your application materials, and help connect you with opportunities. Schedule an appointment with us to discuss your job search strategy, and we’ll help you prepare to launch your career!
