About Student Life

The Division of Student Life at Miami University serves the university community - students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors - through our 14 departments. We support and engage students in all aspects of their life outside of the classroom.

Our core purpose is to create transformational opportunities, inclusive environments, and meaningful connections to ensure that students will learn, grow, and succeed.

Divisional Strategic Commitments

To help us support and advance the mission and goals of the University, we have developed a set of priorities to guide our daily work.

    • Every student will feel a sense of belonging at Miami and will create meaningful connections in the Miami and Oxford communities.

    • All students will experience a welcoming and inclusive environment at Miami where they will learn, grow, and become engaged global citizens.

The Division of Student Life, in support of Miami's educational mission, engages students to achieve the maximum benefit from their Miami experience in preparation for life and leadership in a diverse, global world. Working together with campus and community partners, Student Life creates transformational opportunities, inclusive environments, and meaningful connections to ensure that students will learn, grow, and succeed. The Division builds safe, healthy, lively, and respectful communities that inspire students to dream big, act boldly, and thrive.

We hold ourselves accountable to the Miami Values Statement - a scholarly community whose members believe that a liberal education is grounded in qualities of character as well as of intellect. We respect the dignity of other persons, the rights and property of others, and the right of others to hold and express disparate beliefs. We believe in honesty, integrity, and the importance of moral conduct. We defend the freedom of inquiry that is the heart of learning and combine that freedom with the exercise of judgment and the acceptance of personal responsibility.
