The Master of Environmental Science (M.En.) is a professional degree program that emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to environmental problem solving and sustainable practices. The program is designed to prepare students, upon graduation, for immediate employment as an environmental professional.

Our program emphasizes:

  • problem-solving skills
  • interdisciplinary training
  • teamwork and management
  • effective communication
  • quantitative analysis

The standard M.En. program can be completed in less than 2 years, and financial aid is available on a competitive basis.

The combined M.En. program allows students to complete an M.En. degree with 1 year of additional study beyond the bachelor's degree, and is available to qualified, tuition-paying students with an undergraduate co-major in Energy, Environmental Science, or Sustainability at Miami University.

    Institute for the Environment & Sustainability

    The Institute for the Environment & Sustainability, in the College of Arts & Science, educates students as professionals and global citizens through interdisciplinary programs in environmental science and sustainability, and provides leadership in areas of research and outreach that address environmental problems and promote a more sustainable society. The IES administers 3 undergraduate co-majors, 1 minor, and 1 professional master's degree.
