NO SHOW/LATE CANCELLATION PENALTIES

A missed interview due to a no show or a late cancellation not only reflects poorly on you, but upon our office and the University as well. It is also a waste of a valuable interview slot for both the interviewer and for another student who would have liked a mock interview but could not get on the schedule.

The following penalties will be imposed in the event that you cancel a mock interview late or no show:

Late Cancellations During an Academic Year

  • 1st = No penalty is assessed but your Handshake account is noted.
  • 2nd = Your account is blocked from participating in the recruitment process until a signed, typewritten letter of apology to the employer (in an addressed, stamped, and unsealed envelope) is delivered to Kia Nalls, Mock Interview Coordinator at the Center for Career Exploration & Success.
  • 3rd = Your account is permanently disabled and you will not have access to any features of Handshake. A meeting with the Director of the Center for Career Exploration & Success is required.

No Shows During an Academic Year

  • 1st = Your account is blocked from participating in the recruitment process until a signed letter of apology to the interviewer (in an addressed, stamped and unsealed envelope) is delivered to Kia Nalls, Mock Interview Coordinator at the Center for Career Exploration & Success. This must be completed within 30 days or your account is disabled.
  • 2nd = Your account is disabled and you will not have access to any features of Handshake. A meeting with the Director of the Center for Career Exploration & Success is required.

Special Provision for Accountancy Students

The No Show/Late Cancellation Policy also applies to specific on-campus accountancy events, such as case competitions and leadership programs, for which students are pre-selected and/or which are limited to a specific number of students. This policy change will be communicated to students during the initial kick-off meetings for applicable events. Regarding leadership programs: if you accept an invitation to a leadership program but determine later you are unable to attend, you must communicate this change to employers at least 30 days in advance of the leadership program. Employers will work with the Accountancy Department and the Center for Career Exploration & Success in the Farmer School of Business to enforce the policy.

The Center for Career Exploration & Success retains the right to revise this policy at any time, for any reason. Policy revisions will be posted on the Center for Career Exploration & Success Web site as soon as practicable.
