The Miami University Regionals welcome Marc Lamont Hill as the keynote speaker for the 31st Racial Legacies and Learning Lecture Series.

The program, titled “Building Community in an Hour of Chaos: Progress in the Age of Obama,” takes place 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Miami Middletown’s Dave Finkelman Auditorium. A book signing and reception will follow the lecture.

Hill is a professor, author and cultural critic who offers a candid analysis of the current social and political moment. By identifying key issues, challenges, controversies and trends that have emerged or lingered during the “Obama era,” Hill spotlights the work that must be done to sustain the progress of the freedom struggle.

Moving beyond mere critique, he also provides concrete solutions as well as signs of hope and possibility for healing our national, local and university communities. He is the host of “HuffPost Live” and “BET News” and a political contributor for CNN.

"The 31st Racial Legacies and Learning program promises to challenge the listener and provoke the audience to take action,” said Bennyce Hamilton, Miami’s regional director of diversity and multicultural services.  “Dr. Hill puts race relations front and center and does not hedge on his stance. His riveting thoughts and engaging demeanor will certainly leave a lasting impression on all who hear him."

This program is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. You can see more information or reserve tickets online.
