Twelve students receive Provost's Student Academic Achievement Award

Twelve students received the 2016 Provost's Student Academic Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to Miami University's intellectual environment. 

The recipients were selected based on nominations from Miami faculty. The award is given annually to students who have completed their third year at Miami (a minimum of 75 credit hours) and achieved an outstanding record of academic excellence. Students are awarded a $1,000 scholarship and certificate of recognition. 

The recipients were recognized at a ceremony last month. They are:

Emily Allen, chemical engineering major and mathematics and paper engineering minors.

Matthew Bender, finance and classical humanities double major.

Miranda Caudle, chemical engineering and engineering physics double major and paper engineering and physics double minor.

Jackie Craig, business economics and economics double major and mathematics minor.

Lonnie Flett, geology major.

Kirsten Ledbetter, art education, art and special education majors.

Heather Matthews, mathematics and statistics and analytics double major.

Benard Neuhaus, mathematics and quantitative economics double major.

Irina Rakhlenko, software engineering major and business analytics minor.

Victoria Thompson, nutrition and pre-medical studies co-major and neuroscience minor.

Alex Vielmetti, finance and business economics double major and ethics, society and culture minor.

Joe Wavering, finance and mathematics double major and economics minor.
