Changes to Miami's cellular account with Verizon

Effective Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, Mitech’s cellular office will be making changes to the cellular plan options.

The current format of the data plans allow for the account holder (Miami student, employee or retiree) to have a designated minute plan and each additional data user would share those minutes at $40 per line. Mitech will no longer offer the shared minute option for data users.

Any new contracts require you to select a minute plan for each line that is being added to the account (500 for $60, 1000 for $85, or 1700 for $110). Existing customers will be grandfathered in with their current numbers and plans, but anyone adding new lines to an existing account after Aug. 13, 2016, will need to select one of the minute options. The data and texting aspect of these plans will remain unchanged.

Mitech is also no longer able to provide departments with loaner phones for special occasions/events . Its account with Verizon Wireless does not have a Pay As You Go plan, and all devices ordered carry a one-year contract. Verizon’s policy allows Mitech to suspend service, but the device must be active for a minimum of six months in a calendar year.

Please contact Mitech at mitechcellular@miamioh.edu or 513-529-1244 if you have any questions or concerns.
