Promotion and Tenure

The tenure and promotion process involves rigorous evaluation by external reviewers, department faculty, program directors, chairs, deans, the divisional and university promotion and tenure committees, the Provost, the President, and final approval by the Board of Trustees. Recipients have achieved national recognition in their disciplines, and are committed to promoting a vibrant learning and discovery environment for all of our students.

Regional Faculty Service Guide

Service plays an important role in the professional lives of all faculty at Miami. For colleagues at Hamilton and Middletown, service is especially critical because it can be used as their second criterion for tenure and promotion. More generally, the regional campuses have an important role to play in their communities that is distinct from Oxford.

Midcourse Evaluation

The Center for Teaching Excellence facilitates a comprehensive process to support instructors in collecting student data for documenting teaching effectiveness. This process includes online resources, seminars, and consultations and has been highly rated and recommended by instructors.
