Presidential Fellows Finalist Showcase

1. How do I RSVP for the Showcase?

Please submit your RSVP via the online form found on your Applicant Status Page. To continue your candidacy for the scholarship program, you must attend the Showcase. The deadline to register for the Showcase is January 24, 2020.

2. What will I be doing at the Showcase?

The Showcase will feature three activities: an individual interview; a group problem-solving activity; and a class and scholarly response. The event is tailored so that we can learn more about you, while you discover the very best that Miami University has to offer.

3. How will Showcase participants be judged?

The review of Showcase participants will be comprehensive and holistic. You are among only three percent of Presidential Fellows applicants who have been selected for the Showcase.

Faculty, staff, and students will all play a role in selecting Presidential Fellows. Presidential Fellows will be ambassadors of Miami University wherever they are, so every interaction is an opportunity for us to observe how you will represent Miami University.

4. What should I do to prepare for the Showcase?

You can anticipate light preparation in advance of the weekend. We will reach out to you via email closer to the event with more specific instructions. 

5. How should I dress for the Showcase?

Saturday: Casual attire is acceptable, as we want you to travel comfortably, but please keep in mind you will be meeting the faculty director and completing the group problem solving activity on Saturday. 

Sunday: You are encouraged to wear business attire. Appropriate attire includes slacks with a shirt and tie, a blouse and skirt/slacks, or a dress. 

6. What programming is optional and what programming is required?

All programming is mandatory for you to be considered for the Presidential Fellows Program and scholarship.

7. What programming is available for my guest?

Choosing which college to attend is often a family decision-making process, so Miami has created programming for the parent or accompanying family member of the Finalist. Guests can expect an experience that provides them with insights to various aspects of the Miami Experience including time with key offices and members of the Miami University community. 8. If I am unable to attend the Showcase, can I still be considered for the scholarship?

All programming is mandatory for you to be considered for the Presidential Fellows Program and scholarship.

Travel and Accommodations

9. When and where should I arrive?

Check-in for Saturday's programming begins at 1 p.m. in the Forsythe Commons of the Farmer School of Business. The Farmer School of Business is located at 800 E. High St., Oxford, OH 45056.

10. Where will I be staying?

We have reserved rooms at local hotels. You do not need to book a hotel—we will do that for you! We will send final details about accommodations after you have confirmed your participation in the Showcase.

11. How many people can I bring with me?

You may include one guest with your event registration.

12. Can my guest stay with me?

Yes, you are encouraged to stay with your guest in your overnight accommodations. We are reserving only one room per family.

13. Will I be reimbursed for travel expenses?

Students residing in the United States will be reimbursed for round-trip mileage up to 700 miles per government standard rates if driving; if flying, up to $300 round-trip per person (you and one guest) for coach or economy rate domestic flights. International finalists may contact to make travel arrangements.

14. If I’d like to stay for Make It Miami! on Monday, February 17, how do I register for that event?

You can reserve your spot or change your existing Make It Miami! reservation to February 17 by contacting the Admission Visit Coordinator, 513-529-2531,
