Your Career in Communication Design

The education that I received at Miami opened so many doors for me and continues to do so for myself and others in my career path. The design program at Miami was a close-knit family and gave me four years with best friends from all over the country and professors who cared for my success on a personal level.

Upon graduation, I worked at an agency and then was able to switch tracks to become an educator in the graphic design field. I now am a high school teacher, teaching graphic design courses as well as studio courses. My well-rounded Bachelor of Fine Arts gave me the ability to teach all aspects of art that I love.

I've gained personal design success but my proudest moments have been my success so far in the classroom. I teach all levels of abilities from gifted students to special needs students. My degree at Miami has given high school students direction in their own future careers. I've teamed with special needs students and found ways for the Creative Suite to be used for more than design purposes. It's used for personal expression, memorization and many life skills needed for a special needs student to learn.

My art education has become like a torch. I continue to share the light from the skills that I acquired from my education at Miami. I am forever grateful.
