Let your taste buds embark on a captivating adventure as the Miami University Performing Arts Series hosts the 32nd Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser: Still Swirling with Jack Keegan on Saturday, June 10.

With around 100 wines to taste, guests can indulge in an exquisite sensory journey at this limited-capacity event. Admission includes light bites sponsored by MIssy Friede, Century 21, a silent auction and the option to purchase tastes of wines in the Premium Pour collection curated by Wine Expert and beloved Oxford resident Jack Keegan. Each sip in the beautiful surroundings of the Oxford Community Arts Center reveals a rich tapestry woven by skilled winemakers who have poured their passion into every bottle.

Scheduled as part of the Miami University Alumni Weekend program, the Performing Arts Wine Tasting is a unique opportunity to join family, friends, neighbors and colleagues on an unforgettable journey where the art of giving merges seamlessly with the art of wine to ignite your soul with all proceeds from the event going to support the Performing Arts Series community outreach and education program. Enjoy every sip and swirl knowing the funds raised low towards masterclasses, artist residencies and more.

The Performing Arts Series in consultation with their Advisory Board have shepherded the 32 years of funds raised with care to curate a season of artists who will create the largest impact on the campus, community and region. One example of supporters’ dollars in action is the awe-inspiring Pan Rocks performance in April, 2022. String students from four regional high schools engaged in free masterclasses with Mark Wood known around the world for his electric violin performances as an original member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. They were then invited to Millett Hall to perform in a first of its kind concert of rock music played on steel pans and strings.

In April 2023, the Series used funds raised to bring back the hugely successful Electric Root Festival in Oxford’s Uptown Parks. This free “Arts and Culture Event for All Celebrating Black Joy and Radical Hospitality'' was created in concert with a troupe of international artists and served as a spark igniting a series of similar festivals across the country, uniting communities with joy, connection and belonging. Wine Tasting proceeds were used to to bring the entire creative team of the festival––Shariffa Ali, Michael Mwenso and Jono Gasparro––to campus in the planning stages for this year’s event to visit classes and meet with key stakeholders where they inspired and empowered participants of all ages to use their creativity to make the change they want to see in the world.

From Handel’s Messiah to Step Afrika!, the Series brings artists at the top of their fields from across the globe to Oxford to not only entertain with outstanding performances but also directly engage with members of the community as experts and educators.

The “heart and cellar” of the Wine Tasting Fundraiser is Jack Keegan. Jack has been part of the Miami and Oxford community for 45 years, serving on the Performing Arts Series Advisory Board for most of them. He is probably best known on campus for teaching Biology 244, Viticulture and Enology for the last 28 years. The popular course, also known as the “Wines” course, focuses on the study of grapes and wines throughout the world, and has had over 5,000 students enroll.

Jack is a Certified Wine Educator (CWE) from the Society of Wine Educators who has shared his expertise with thousands of fundraiser attendees over the years. His continuing connections in the wine industry and with regional collectors ensures an incredible variety and high quality of wine donated each year to this special event.
