Miami University Theatre invites you to witness a captivating performance of Antigone, Presented by the Girls of St. Catherine’s by Madhuri Shekar, taking place from March 13-17, 2024, in Studio 88.

In the hallowed halls of St. Catherine’s, the drama club is faced with the monumental task of presenting Sophocles’ timeless tragedy, Antigone. Set in an all-girls Catholic school, the production encounters unexpected challenges when the director, a beloved figure to the cast, commits an unforgivable betrayal just days before the opening night. Amidst the chaos, the actors grapple with impossibly difficult choices, mirroring the very themes they are portraying on stage. The question lingers: What is the right thing to do, and must the show go on?

The gripping narrative unfolds against the backdrop of St. Catherine’s, where the drama club must navigate the complexities of both the classic play and their own dramatic circumstances. As they rehearse, the audience is drawn into a world of intrigue, passion, and the indomitable spirit of the performers.

All showings will commence at 7:30 p.m., except for the closing Sunday performance, which begins at 2:00 p.m.

Director Oluchi Nwokocha expressed her excitement, saying, “This is a wonderful show that tests the boundaries of friendships. It asks the question: What should I do when the right thing hurts the ones I love? Enter the world of St. Catherine's where every decision is a high stakes one.” She continued, “We have a wonderful cast and crew and I look forward to everyone viewing this spectacular production."
