Emily Baker
Biography
Emily Baker received her Associate of Arts from Miami University in 2004 before getting married and starting a family. After spending 9 years as a stay-at-home parent, she decided to return to university to pursue a career in the paper industry.
Emily is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She also pursued minors in both Paper Engineering and Process Control.
While at Miami, Emily was heavily involved in the Student TAPPI organization, working as organization treasurer during the 2024-2025 academic year. She attended two TAPPI Student Summits and worked with the student chair committee for the January 2025 summit. She was part of the 2023 PEACE study abroad group, visiting Austria, Italy, and Slovenia over 27 days. In 2024 she was the winner of Paperitalo Publications’ technical writing competition, writing a piece on student recruitment into paper engineering education programs. She also served on the CPB undergraduate student advisory council during the 2022-2023 academic year. She completed two summer internships at Proctor & Gamble working in research and development of bath tissue and paper towels, and one January term co-op with Dubois Chemicals working in research and development of paper chemical additives.
After graduation, Emily will return to Proctor & Gamble with a full-time position in tissue/towel research and development. Emily would like to thank all the supportive professors and staff at Miami, particularly the Paper Science and Engineering Foundation, and her friends and family for their love and guidance during her educational journey.
