The Graduate School, in conjunction with Departments of Educational Psychology and Psychology offers a certificate program in The Human Brain & Learning. This certificate program is available to master's and doctoral candidates in any field of study across the university. Its purpose is to enhance a disciplinary graduate degree with specialization in human cognition, learning, and development.

The program provides intensive study of a variety of cognitive neuroscience, development, learning theories and research methodologies with a focus on Electroencephalography. Courses stress interaction between theory and practice through research with connections to human learning and development.

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Identify areas in the neuro and cognitive sciences that have relevant application to teaching and learning in formal and informal learning settings
  • Identify and analyze advanced brain structures and functions
  • Conduct and interpret EEG research studies
  • Synthesize research findings and consider relevance to educational interventions increasing our understanding of cognition and the brain
