Uniting for LGBTQ+ Support: Community Event at Oxford Lane Library

In a dynamic collaboration between the Dennis L. Carlson Sexuality Education Studies Center and the Oxford Area PFLAG, the community gathered both in person and via Zoom on October 25th for "How to be an Affirming Grown-Up for Queer and Trans Youth" at the Oxford Lane Library.

The event aimed to empower participants with tools for fostering inclusivity for LGBTQ+ youth and exploring three strategies for enhancing family conversations. Discussions also addressed challenges specific to local LGBTQ+ support and empowered participants to reframe or challenge anti-LGBTQ+ statements within their communities.

This event marks the start of an ongoing partnership, with plans for future presentations and opportunities. As the community unites in support of LGBTQ+ youth, these collaborative efforts promise positive transformations in language, understanding, and advocacy.
