CADS Hosts Successful Spring Career Reception

3 Students talking to 3 employers

February 20, 2019

More than 50 students came to CADS’ Spring Career Reception during the evening of February 19 to network and speak with potential employers in the analytics field. Many were offered interviews the next day.

Companies present included Nationwide, Express Scripts, Worldpay, Kroger Technology and EY. The average GPA of students in attendance was 3.57; over 40 percent of students were seniors and over half were female.

“It went really well, said Brant Imhoff, a graduate statistics student. “I knew that these were reputable companies looking for interns.”

Imhoff said that compared to larger events like Career Fair and Spring ICE, it was great to be able to talk with employers that were on campus specifically for his field.

“If you’re looking for an internship, going to that is a no brainer. These receptions are really good, especially for anyone in analytics.”

The largest majors represented were statistics, computer science and ISA. Other majors included accounting, economics, finance, marketing, math & statistics, university studies, urban & regional planning, interactive media studies, public health and dietetics.

Junior and ISA major Caroline Skaggs, who interviewed with Nationwide after attending the event, agreed with Imhoff.

“It’s good being able to talk to people that are specific to your major,” she said. “They were all impressed by the skills the analytics department prepared us for.”
