- CURIO PRESS Founder, 2005-present • Award-winning full-service marketing and design consultancy with a major focus in the publishing industry. Led authors and editors all the way from initial market research/strategy, ideation, design, production, and marketing. • Publishing clients include Thomson Course Technology, F W Publications, Cengage Learning, Pearson Education, Baker Publishing Group, and Republic Ink. • Outside of the publishing industry, work focuses on full-stack marketing consulting including market research, traditional and digital branding, UX design, and retail experience design. • Non-publishing marketing clients include Hershey Parks, Relevant, Talmetrix, UNDIVIDED, Coaching for Change, and the Spinifex Group.
- CROSSROADS Director of Digital Content Strategy, 2020-2021 • Overhauled the SEO strategy and successfully grew content views from 700/day to 15,000 /day in less than three months through the strategic use of Google Analytics, Asana, HootSuite, and Moz SEO. • Led the refactoring of content marketing to better integrate with online searches and social media sharing through collaboration with internal and external technical teams. • Directed omni-channel initiatives to integrate the mobile app, social platforms, and website driven by first-party data analytics insights, user experience research, and additional ethnographic consumer research. • Assisted with the growth of the national streaming audience from a few thousand to over 1 million.
- Oxford Community Pastor Founder, 2016-2020 • Conceptualized, launched, and marketed a new cutting-edge church that grew to 400 in weekly attendance, 50 volunteers, and a full-time staff team. • Founded Outpost, an innovative co-working space on frat row that hosted 1000 community members per week. • Collaborated with Miami University’s Student Support Center to build out an undergraduate and graduate-focused food pantry for students experiencing food insecurity. • Trained and then co-led DE I initiatives within the organization. • Developed and directed new growth in individual franchise-focused social media content.
- F W MEDIA Art Director of HOW Design Books Writers Digest Books, 2000-2005 • Worked directly with stakeholders, editors, authors, and vendors to develop, design, implement, and market book lines. • Led new initiatives in the book production process that upended design constraints including new book sizes and inks. • Assisted in marketing efforts and management of the annual HOW Design Conference, a conference with 3,000 attendees.

Biography
Lisa Kuhn is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Miami University, where she brings 20 years of industry experience and passion to her role as an educator. With a career driven by a commitment to crafting innovative experiences that empower individuals to thrive, Lisa's expertise spans creative arts, publishing, community leadership, and digital marketing.
Prior to her academic career, Lisa made significant contributions as an Art Director at Writer's Digest books and HOW Design Books, and as the author of "Graphically Speaking," a globally embraced book on designer-client communication. She later founded Curio Press, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to fostering meaningful connections. Transitioning to the digital realm, Lisa amplified engagement and retention through strategic SEO and UX decisions for a national nonprofit, achieving remarkable results.
Now, as a full-time professor at Miami University, Lisa teaches courses on Social Media Marketing and Online Community Management, Content Marketing, and Principles of Marketing. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in immersing her students in real-world challenges encouraging them to find insights driven by data and novel creative solutions.
Lisa's journey exemplifies a relentless pursuit of excellence and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact, both within academia and beyond.
