Who We Are and What We Do
Global Initiatives promotes the dynamic, comprehensive internationalization of the University through the infusion of multicultural and comparative perspectives in scholarship, teaching, and service. Support focuses on user- and constituent-friendly services with a commitment to efficiency and acts as the connective tissue for all internationalization realms.
We drive internationalization activities and networks at Miami University through collaborative engagement with local and global communities. We seek to transform the learning of students, faculty, and staff through educational opportunities across borders and disciplines and provide outstanding service.
We support an interdisciplinary, inquiry-driven environment in which the learner’s strengths and interests are recognized and expanded through welcoming, personal, values-based, collaborative, and quality driven approaches and meaningful global opportunities.
We demonstrate respect for one another and the community we serve by: valuing inclusiveness and diversity, trusting in one another's capabilities, and treating others as we wish to be treated.

As the hub for global support services at Miami University, Global Initiatives helps to address needs for translation and interpretation across campus. Our staff are available to assist Miami University faculty, staff and students with translation or interpretation needs related to university business. Add to your next event by borrowing a flag from Global Initiatives. With more than 100 flags in our collection, we're proud to display a diverse range of countries in MacMillan Hall. Each flag represents a country of origin for our past and present international students. Departments around campus as well as Miami University’s student organizations are welcome to borrow our flags for display purposes at events and functions throughout the year.

International Education Week (IEW) is a program of the U.S. Departments of State and Education that promotes the importance of global learning. Each November, we invite you to welcome to explore and engage in various campus experiences featuring multiple cultures to becoming a more aware global citizen.
Sign up for a global learning project with MiamiConnects and collaborate with faculty and students worldwide to create a course, module, or program to expand international learning.
Founded in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the premier international exchange program of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Its mission to promote intercultural understanding through citizen exchange is achieved through funding graduate study, teaching and research in more than 140 countries. Programs are available for U.S. students, U.S. scholars, foreign students, and foreign scholars. More than 100 Miami University students and faculty have received Fulbright grants.
