In today’s world, it’s critical to consider cybersecurity as an essential part of running a business – any kind of business, including a university. One important aspect of being "good" at cybersecurity is recognizing that everyone plays a role in protecting Miami data.

In service of our shared responsibility, the University is implementing CrowdStrike Falcon as another plank in our cybersecurity strategy, and IT Services is here to lead the way.

Disk Encryption

In Fall 2017, Miami University IT Services rolled out full disk encryption (FDE). Almost everyone who works at Miami has some confidential information, as defined in MUPIM 3.22, on their computers. By installing FDE, we are ensuring that none of that confidential data can be accessed if an employee’s Miami-issued laptop is lost or stolen.
