Biography
…is Assistant Director of the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) and a proud AIP alumni. As a child, Amanda loved playing school with her classroom of plush animals. A summer job at a nature museum led to a lifelong career in learning, with a continued focus on wildlife! Before joining Project Dragonfly, Amanda led the interpretation team at Lincoln Park Zoo and managed interpretive projects with the zoo's partners, including Chimp Haven and Serengeti National Park, while also teaching for universities such as Miami and Johns Hopkins. Additionally, she served as a director and magazine editor for the National Association for Interpretation (NAI), through which she is a Certified Interpretive Trainer. Amanda has trained with the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI), where she now serves on the board of directors, and NASA and the National Park Service’s Earth to Sky Partnership. She holds a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, having worked with a research team to study climate change communication in national parks. Amanda has visited nearly every national park in the continental United States and is always ready to talk about her national parks passport.
