Biography
Sarah Navarro grew up in Michigan where her parents fostered her love of nature with frequent camping trips and encouragement to explore the wildlife all around her (as long as she didn’t take it inside!). Sarah earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in zoology from Michigan State University. She joined the Education Department of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden in 2001 and is now the Senior Manager of Group Programs. This position allows her to create opportunities for meaningful nature-based experiences for school groups both on- and off-grounds, work closely with the Education Department’s animal ambassadors, and create interpretive elements throughout the zoo. The Cincinnati Zoo’s affiliation with Earth Expeditions has also allowed her the opportunity to instruct experiential learning for AIP courses at the Cincinnati Zoo and instruct GFP courses in Belize and Namibia throughout the years. Sarah is a Grosvenor Teacher Fellow and Certified Educator with National Geographic; a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation; and a Certified Interpreter through the National Network of Oceanic and Climate Change Interpreters (NNOCCI). When she is not at the zoo, she is volunteering with a local cat rescue, exploring nature with her husband and teenage children, watching FC Cincinnati soccer, or naptrapped under her cat, Jack.
