Armstrong Student Center Board
Since its inception, the Armstrong Student Center has been billed as “by students, for students,” and indeed, Miami students are deeply involved in every phase of the planning and policy-making process.
Leading this effort is the Armstrong Student Center Board, which was formed prior to construction of the building in 2013. The Board consists of fifteen members. Appointed representatives from Associated Student Government, Miami Activities and Programming, Diversity Affairs Council and SEAL Ambassadors serve on the board along with at-large members serving two-year terms. At-large members tend to be involved with various student organizations around campus since these groups are a core part of Armstrong’s student-centered mission.
The Board’s primary directive is to oversee the policies, practices, programming and services of the Armstrong Student Center. Since the building is partially funded by a student fee, the Board works to ensure that decisions are made with student interests in mind.
The Armstrong Student Center and the Student Board would not have been possible without former ASG leaders who pushed for the building to become a reality, generous alumni contributions, and the support of President Hodge and the Miami Administration.
