What is the Passport Caravan?

Miami University is partnering with CIEE to help reach their Generation Study Abroad Commitment to provide passport grants to 10,000 students by 2019. The Miami University-CIEE Passport Caravan event will take place on February 28, 2018 with a goal to submit applications for 120 new U.S. passports. CIEE will cover the $110 U.S. passport fee and execution fee of $25. Miami University, Global Initiatives is covering the cost for the passport photos, so there will be no cost to the students who are accepted.

Grant Eligibility and Application Process

Miami University students who have never had a U.S. passport or who have an expired minor passport are invited to submit an application for a CIEE Passport Caravan grant. This grant is intended for students with a 2.25 GPA or better who are underrepresented in study abroad (including, but not limited to, students from ethnic minorities, STEM majors, and students with financial need as defined by FAFSA). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the slots are filled.

If selected for a grant, you will file your U.S. passport application in MacMillan Hall on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 during the CIEE Passport Caravan event. Standard processing time is 6-8 weeks after submission.
