Spring 2019 Workshops

Join us for our spring writing across the curriculum workshops on responding to student writing and teaching writing effectively online.

Using Student Peer Response Effectively to Improve Student Writing: Feb. 5-6

Peer response is a proven method to encourage students to write sooner, write more often, and produce better final products. Yet faculty are often overwhelmed by the process and/or underwhelmed by the results. This workshop provides strategies for helping your students respond to their peers’ writing more effectively and for writers to apply that feedback to their drafts.

  • Tuesday, February 5, 2:50-4:10 pm (led by Ann Updike and Caitlin Martin)
  • Wednesday, February 6, 10:05-11:25 am (led by Ann Updike and Angela Glotfelter)

Best Practices in Teaching Writing Online: Feb. 25-26

Join our guest speakers, Dr. Susan Miller-Cochran and Dr. Shelley Rodrigo,  University of Arizona, to learn about and discuss effective practices for online writing instruction. For your convenience, our guests will provide similar sessions on two days so you can pick and choose to fit your schedule. They’ll also be available over lunch to answer your individual questions.
