Application and Admission Process

College Credit Plus students must apply to the program each academic year they wish to participate.

The admission criteria for the Oxford campus and the regional campuses are different.

Oxford Campus

Students interested in enrolling in College Credit Plus (CCP) courses offered through the Oxford campus must apply for admission using the Oxford campus CCP online application. The online application and required application materials must be sent electronically to the Oxford campus Office of Admission. No application will be considered until all materials have been received. Applicants may have only one active application per semester.

Items Required:
  • Miami University's Oxford campus CCP application
  • Official ACT/SAT test scores: ACT and SAT scores should be sent directly to Miami by the testing agency or a school counselor. Miami's ACT school code is 3294; the SAT school code is 1463. See the “College Readiness Assessment” section below for more information on taking the ACT residual examination on the Oxford campus free of charge.
  • Official high school transcript or middle school grade report(s): Sent directly from a school counselor to Miami University.
  • School verification form: Completed and submitted by a school counselor. The submission must include current course schedule.
  • Letter of recommendation: Written and submitted by a school counselor.
CCP Admission Requirements - Oxford campus:
  • School verification form indicating student is eligible to participate. A minimum composite ACT score of 25 or a minimum Old SAT score (CR+M) of 1130 or New SAT score (ERW+M) of 1200.
  • A cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A written letter of recommendation indicating the student demonstrates the academic ability and emotional maturity to successfully participate in college classes.
  • All data shall be considered that may be an indicator of college readiness.

Please note: Students who have formerly participated in CCP at Miami (Oxford or Regionals) and wish to attend Miami University after they graduate from high school must still formally apply to matriculate into Miami University (Oxford or Regionals).

Regional Campuses

Junior and Senior high school applicants are encouraged to submit their ACT scores to determine college readiness and placement into CCP courses.

A student must meet the following minimum scores to be admitted as a CCP student:

  • ACT subscores: 22 Reading AND 18 English
  • SAT subscores: 480 Critical Reading or 490 Evidence Based Reading & Writing

Upon acceptance into CCP, students will participate in a mandatory student orientation, advising, and registration (SOAR) program before meeting with an academic advisor.

Please note: Students who have formerly participated in CCP at Miami (Oxford or Regionals) and wish to attend Miami University after they graduate from high school must still formally apply to matriculate into Miami University (Oxford or Regionals).

College Readiness Assessment

Oxford Campus

Students wishing to apply for admission to the Oxford campus may take the ACT residual examination on the Oxford campus free of charge. The scores for this examination may be used only for CCP admission to Miami’s Oxford campus. 

The examination is scheduled several weeks prior to the application deadline in the fall and spring semesters. One make-up date is also scheduled each fall and spring semester. Please contact Miami’s Office of Admission for more information.

Miami University will not pay for or reimburse for ACT or SAT examinations administered elsewhere.

Regional Campuses

If a CCP applicant has not already taken the ACT (provided by their high school) or SAT, they will be required to take the Accuplacer test at Miami University to determine college readiness after applying for CCP.

Miami University will not pay for or reimburse for ACT or SAT examinations, but will provide the Accuplacer placement exam free of charge.

Accuplacer Score Equivalents:

  • Reading score equivalent: 80 or higher
  • Writeplacer score equivalent: 5 or higher
  • Mathematics score equivalent: 55CLM (College Level Math) or higher

Timeline of Key Dates

  • April 1: Application deadline for home school and private school students interested in applying for funding through the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
  • April 15 (5 p.m. EDT): Deadline for home school and private school students to submit a Miami CCP acceptance letter to the Ohio Department of Higher Education for funding for summer term. For more information go to OhioHigherEd.org/CCP.
  • May 1: Application deadline to participate in fall and spring semesters.
  • May 15: Deadline for summer course registration on Regional campuses.
  • November 1: Application deadline to participate in spring semester only.

Additional notes:

  • The dates above reflect the postmarked deadline for all application materials.
  • College Credit Plus (CCP) students must apply to the program each academic year.
  • If a student applies for summer and/or fall term, and does not participate in CCP, the student must complete another application for the spring term by the November deadline.
