International First-Year—Spring or Fall 2019

To apply for first-year admission as an international student, submit the following items online or send to the address below.

Do not send duplicate materials, as it will delay processing.

You may pay this fee by credit card when submitting the Common Application or Coalition Application online. Or, you can pay this fee by postal mail with a check or money order in U.S. currency made payable to Miami University.

International Students Financial Support Form with Financial Verification

Submit the International Student Financial Support Form through your Applicant Status Page. Your form must be accompanied by documentation providing proof of financial support, which you will be able to upload via your Applicant Status Page as well. Please allow two business days to process any uploaded material.


A recommendation must be submitted on your behalf. This recommendation can be in the form of a letter; the School Report completed by your school official; or the Teacher Evaluation, completed by a teacher. Both forms can be found at The recommendation must be submitted directly from the school official or teacher. Only one recommendation is required.

Official Academic Records

Academic records include all secondary studies, beginning with 9th grade to date, and proof of secondary school graduation (if applicable).

All documents not originally issued in English must be accompanied by an English translation.

Proof of English Language Proficiency

Send official TOEFL or IELTS test score to Miami or provide alternative proof of English language proficiency.

ACT/SAT Test Scores (if applicable)

Standardized tests are generally not required but are recommended for international students. These are required for international student applicants who have attended a U.S. high school for three or more years, as well as applicants from Canada.

Additional Application Requirements

We do not conduct interviews as part of the general admission process.

College of Creative Arts

Students pursuing the following majors within the College of Creative Arts are required to submit a portfolio and/or schedule an audition/interview by the application deadline: Architecture, Art, Art Education, Communication Design, Interior Design, Music, Music Composition, Music Education, Music Performance, and Theatre. Farmer School of Business

Students wishing to major in business must apply for direct admission into the Farmer School of Business (FSB). No separate application is required, but students must indicate business as their intended major on the admission application.

Honors Program

Miami University's Honors Program provides a number of unique opportunities for high-ability students. Students wishing to be considered for the Honors program must submit a separate application. See for more information.
