All anthropology majors receive a broad introduction to the four subfields of anthropology:
- ATH 212: Intro to Archaeological Theory & Methods (4 credits)
- ATH 231: Investigating Culture: Theories and Methods in Cultural Anthropology (3 credits)
- ATH 255: Introduction to Biological Anthropology (3 credits)
- ATH 265: Language and Culture (3 credits)
The major requirements ensure that students are exposed to all four major areas but allow them the freedom explore their individual interests though Course Clusters:
Adaptation - Evolution, Behavior, & Biocultural Change;
Plurality - Global Connections and Diversity; and
Emergence - Media, Technology and Communication.
You must take at least three courses from one cluster, and at least one course from each of the two remaining clusters for a total of 17 credit hours. One course must be a Practicum course. You must also ATH 421: Senior Seminar in Anthropology (3 credits)
