The purpose of the Havighurst Fund is to provide full or partial support for projects undertaken by full-time faculty and staff, from all Miami campuses and in all disciplines, that focus on Russia, Eastern Europe, and/or Eurasia. Initiatives that promote wider faculty and student awareness of the region and that seek to deepen Miami's programmatic involvement in this area are preferred.
Those who wish to be considered for funding should submit their application to HavighurstCenter@miamioh.edu or via campus mail to the Havighurst Center, 322 Harrison Hall, Miami University, Oxford, OH 45056. Proposals should include a detailed budget and a description of the project's intended impact on students.

Proposals are reviewed by the Havighurst Advisory Committee, comprised of faculty peers, who will submit their recommendations to the Provost for approval.
All applicants are encouraged to contact Stephen Norris, Director of the Havighurst Center, to discuss their proposals before submitting them, at norriss1@miamioh.edu.
The Havighurst Center has established the Karen Dawisha Memorial Fund to honor Karen L. Dawisha (1949-2018), the first Walter E. Havighurst Professor (Political Science) and the founding Director of the Havighurst Center for Russian and Post-Soviet Studies.
Proceeds from the fund are used to support study abroad and/or innovative research by undergraduate students interested in Russia, the Soviet Union, or its successor states. All topics are welcome, but preference will be given to students interested in Russian politics and foreign policy. Recipients are chosen through a selection process conducted by the Director of the Havighurst Center.

The Havighurst Center for Russian & Post-Soviet Studies offers financial assistance to Miami University students participating in study abroad programs to Russia and other post-Soviet states. Miami University students planning to enroll in a study abroad program for the summer, semester, or full academic year are eligible to apply. Awards are determined based on the cost of the program, the student’s academic record, letters of recommendation, and financial need.

American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) offers fellowships and grants in East European Studies.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduates who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2- or 4-year college for study abroad programs worldwide.
Boren Awards for International Study Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests. EESA-Ukraine fully qualifies for this scholarship.
Carnegie Junior Fellows provide research assistance to Associates working on the Carnegie's projects such as non-proliferation, democracy building, international economics, Chinese and Russian studies.
Critical Language Scholarship Program Critical Language Scholarships (CLS) provide group-based summer intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for eight to ten weeks.
Eastern European Study Abroad Scholarships (EESA) – up to $7,000
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or English Teaching Assistantships. A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose defining activities to take place during one academic year in a country outside the U.S. Grant lengths and dates vary by country. Please consult the specific country summary for details. Graduating seniors and recent Bachelor’s-degree recipients, as well as Master's and doctoral candidates are eligible to apply.
Marshall Scholarship Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a degree in the United Kingdom. Up to forty Scholars are selected each year to study at graduate level at an UK institution in any field of study.
The National Council for Eurasian and East European Research Carnegie Fellowship Program
Phi Kappa PhiStudy Abroad Grants Forty-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad.
Rhodes Scholarship The Rhodes Trust, a British charity established to honor the will and bequest of Cecil J. Rhodes, provides full financial support for Rhodes Scholars to pursue a graduate degree or degrees at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The first American Rhodes Scholars entered Oxford in 1904.
Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarships Rotary International offers scholarships to promote international understanding and goodwill through study abroad. To be eligible, students must study abroad for a year or more.
