For over 75 years, Miami University’s Speech & Hearing Clinic has met the speech and audiology needs of tri-state residents with state-of-the-art technology and personalized care. All of our providers are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and committed to providing effective and individualized assessment and treatment for communication disorders in individuals of all ages. At the Miami Speech & Hearing Clinic, we consider the best available evidence, clinical expertise, and client and family needs in order to support and improve the communication of each of our clients.

NSSLHA 5K

Starting at Cook Field, Pulley Bell Tower

Miami students, alumni, friends, and family are invited to participate in the 2024 National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) 5K during Homecoming Weekend!

REGISTER NOW

Runners and walkers will begin the 5K near Pulley Bell Tower and weave through Miami's beautiful campus. Along the way, participants will pass Miami's newest academic buildings, the McVey Data Science building and the Clinical Health Science and Wellness building. The last portion of the 5K will travel through Western Campus – a fitting tribute to the Miami community’s Homecoming 2024, Celebrating the Spirit of Western.

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Funds raised from this event will support the patient assistance fund for the Miami University Speech and Hearing Clinic. Our mission at the Miami University Speech and Hearing Clinic is to serve the speech, language and hearing needs of individuals by enhancing the quality of their communication skills. We are committed to providing cost effective services that meet the unique needs of all individuals and their families, and to promoting excellence in clinical training of future speech-language-hearing professionals.

5K student entry fee: $10
T-Shirts are included while supplies last and can be picked up on the day of the event.

Can't make it to Oxford, but want to be involved?

VIRTUAL 5K WALK/RUN
We invite those who can't make it to Oxford to participate on their own! A virtual race can be completed at a 5K (or shorter distance if you prefer) any time before Sept. 27. Participants are encouraged to share pictures of themselves with their name, class year (if alumni), and location. There is no cost for the virtual event and registration is not required. Just let us know if you participate!

Cancelation Policy: If we receive written notice of cancellation 72 hours in advance, you will receive a refund less a 10% administrative fee. After this time we will be unable to issue a refund. Please email your request to alumni@MiamiOH.edu with the event name in the subject of your email.

Coming From the South on US-27

  1. Once in Oxford, turn left on Chestnut Avenue.
  2. At the next light, turn right on Campus Avenue.
  3. Continue past the Rec Center and parking garage on the right.
  4. Turn right into the parking garage entrance.
  5. Enter the parking garage and drive to the marked spaces on the first floor.

Coming From the North on US-27

  1. Once in Oxford, follow the signs to stay on US-27, right on College Avenue, then left on High Street.
  2. Stay on High Street through Uptown until you get to the traffic light at Campus Avenue.
  3. Turn right onto Campus Avenue.
  4. Stay on Campus Avenue through the four-way stop at Spring Street. The Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness Building is the second building on your left.
  5. Enter the parking garage on the south end of the building and drive to the marked spaces on the first floor. of the garage

Coming From the East on OH-73

  1. Once in Oxford, at the traffic light at Patterson Avenue, light, turn left onto US-27 (Patterson Avenue).
  2. Then make a left at the third all-way stop, and turn left onto Campus Avenue.
  3. The Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness Building is the second building on your left.
  4. Enter the parking garage on the south end of the building and drive to the marked spaces on the first floor of the garage.

Financial Assistance Application and/or Questions

Financial Assistance may be available for speech therapy on a semester-by-semester basis. Please complete the online patient assistance application. Please contact the clinic director, Sarah Heimkreiter 513-529-2537, with any questions.

Parking

Parking for the clinic is available in the South Campus Parking Garage. Spaces for the clinic are marked on the first floor. Exit the garage at the nearest door and head left toward the Clinic entrance. You will receive a validation ticket from the clinic staff to exit the parking garage at no cost.

New Patient Forms

Thank you for choosing the Miami Speech and Hearing Clinic for your care! Please click the appropriate description to find the paperwork required for you. All forms will need to be downloaded before they can be filled out and printed.

Once your appointment has been scheduled, the Speech and Hearing Clinic will send you an email from spaclinic@MiamiOH.edu with several forms to complete or mail a packet of forms to your home. Please complete the forms, sign where required, and bring with you to your appointment.

Please note that if the paperwork is mailed to your home, depending on your appointment date, you may not receive it in time to complete it before your appointment. If that is the case, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to complete the paperwork in the clinic.

You should receive the email within 24 hours of scheduling your appointment, so make sure that you are checking your spam/junk mail! If you do not receive the email within two days, please call the the clinic at 513-529-2500.

Our Facilities

The Miami Speech and Hearing Clinic consists of fourteen individual speech therapy rooms with observation rooms for family members, audiological suites and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with adults and children, as well as real-ear hearing aid analysis and fitting equipment; a voice and speech science laboratory providing equipment for specialized testing, such as laryngeal videostroboscopy, respiratory function, as well as nasometric, acoustical, and transglottal airflow measurements; a large room for group sessions; a language nursery for play-based interventions and infant/toddler language groups; and, a video room for observation and recording.

The clinic sees patients of all ages with a diversity of articulation, language, hearing, feeding, and voice therapy needs.

Diagnostic and treatment services are provided by graduate student clinicians under the supervision of experienced, licensed, and certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists. Supervision is carried out in accordance with the guidelines mandated by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the State of Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
