Miami University Fall 2020 Commencement – Virtual
December 11, 2020, 3:00 p.m.
The Miami University Fall Commencement ceremony was a virtual celebration of our December 2020 graduates, our January 2021 graduates, and the entire Miami Class of 2020. We welcomed all 2020 graduates to tune in to this special ceremony.
Fall 2020
Held Friday, December 11, 2020, 3:00 p.m. - Virtual
With mass gathering restrictions still in place and as we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our campus communities, our December Commencement Ceremony was held virtually. Please know that we too are extremely disappointed that we could not welcome our students, families, friends and alumni to gather together on our campuses at this time.
As many of our Spring 2020 graduates had hoped to return in September to be individually recognized, the December virtual ceremony recognized all of our 2020 graduates – all 2020 graduates’ names and honors were shown during this ceremony.
Printed Program
Different from the virtual program, a printed Fall 2020 Commencement Program will include the names, w/honors, of December, 2020 and January, 2021 degree candidates who apply to graduate by Friday, December 11, 2020. One program will be mailed to each graduate at approximately the same time diplomas are mailed, and to the same address. Names, w/honors, of those who apply to graduate on Saturday, December 12, 2020 or after will be printed in the Spring 2021 Commencement Program.
Additional copies of the printed Fall 2020 Commencement Program can be requested after December 11, 2020.
University and Latin Honors - Cords and Medallions
The University will be mailing University and Latin Honors Cords and/or Medallions to December and January degree candidates whose academic record reflects such achievement, beginning the week of November 16, 2020. We know these are important representations of academic accomplishment and are working to get them to graduates as quickly as possible. We thank you for your patience.
Diplomas and Diploma Covers
December 2020 graduates will be mailed their diploma(s) INSIDE the traditional Miami University diploma cover. Graduates must complete the Mailing Confirmation Form to ensure their diploma(s) and cover(s) are mailed to the correct address. If a student has already completed it, they can complete it again at any time to update the address before their conferral date.
About four to six weeks after the graduation ceremony, once grades have been finalized and degree completion has been confirmed, your diploma(s) will be mailed to the address provided through the ceremony attendance form. If the form was not completed, the diploma will be mailed to your home mailing address on file with the university.
Students having their diploma mailed to an international address will be contacted by the Registrar Office prior to graduation to verify their address and to obtain a phone number they may be reached at in case of problems with delivery.
"Conferral date" refers to the date the university uses to award degrees each term. For December 2020 graduates the conferral date (and therefore the date printed on the diploma) is December 11, 2020; and for January 2021 graduates, the date is January 23, 2021.
