Diasolve Secures Second Place at TechStars Startup Weekend with Solution for Diabetics

Amanda Simeone, a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurship with a nutrition minor at Miami University, was part of the Diasolve team which secured second place at the recent TechStars Startup Weekend. Held from Nov. 3-5, the event brought together over 120 students, showcasing entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. Simeone and her team presented "Diasolve," a groundbreaking solution aimed at aiding Type-1 diabetics in managing low blood sugar episodes more efficiently.

Driven by the alarming statistic that 1 in 10 Type I diabetics face life-threatening low blood sugar incidents, Simeone's pitch highlighted the need for a quick and effective response. The Startup Weekend allowed students to develop and pitch their startup ideas to a panel of judges and mentors.

Reflecting on the experience, Simeone expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort of her diverse team, combining unique backgrounds and experiences. She emphasized the invaluable connections made with mentors, envisioning a promising future for Diasolve.

TechStars Startup Weekend, an annual event hosted by Miami University, continues to foster innovation, with this year's participants presenting a range of creative business ideas. Dash Co-Pilot claimed first place with an AI personal assistant, while third place went to "Mind over Matter," a clothing line dedicated to supporting mental health.

Amanda Simeone's team Diasolve stood out for its potential impact on healthcare, showcasing the university's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent.
