Payments Using Outside Scholarships and Other Funding Sources
Outside Scholarships
Funds are considered “Outside Scholarships” when students receive tuition assistance from organizations or individuals other than their parents/guardians. The donor identifies the student who is to receive the funds as well as any conditions for disbursement. Miami University will apply these funds directly to the student's account except in those cases where the conditions of the award prohibit this action.
If the student receives the check and it is made out to the student AND Miami University, they should first endorse the check and then bring it to a One Stop location (Oxford campus: Nellie Craig Walker Hall; Hamilton: Mosler Hall; Middletown: Johnston Hall), or mail the check to Office of the Bursar (address below). If the check is only made out to Miami, simply bring the check to a One Stop location or mail the check to the Office of the Bursar. Be sure to include the student’s Banner ID or Unique ID on the check.

Other Funding Sources
Any organization that wishes to pay part or all of a student's fees can send a request with the student's name, Banner ID, dollar amount, and an email address where the bill should be sent. Requests can be emailed to bursaradmin@MiamiOH.edu or mailed to the Office of the Bursar (address above). Requests must be approved by the Office of the Bursar prior to the due date. Invoices will be sent via email only. Regardless of the payer, the student continues to be the responsible party for account payments.
