Faculty and Unclassified Searches

Miami University has established specific search procedures for recruiting and appointing:

  1. Tenured and tenure-eligible faculty, lecturers and teaching faculty (collectively referred to as faculty)
  2. Unclassified administrative staff (UAS) 

Searches must comply with all of the respective search procedures found in the Policy Library and in the Interview Guidelines and Considerations.

Request Search Committee Approval & Faculty Search Training

The Office of Transformational and Inclusive Excellence (OTIE) must approve the composition of proposed faculty search committees. Please complete the request form below to request approval from OTIE.

Upon receipt of approval of your search committee, search committee members must complete annual training by OTIE and the Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity (OEEO). Search committee members only need to complete this training once per fiscal year (July-June).

Faculty search committee training is now available online through Canvas and is accessible 24/7. This self-paced, online training focuses on compliance, bias, and policies, in relation to the search process.  All newly approved search committee members will be auto-enrolled in this Canvas course. There is a Formstack form at the end of the training that must be submitted in order to document training completion.

If you have a group of people in your department who are not a part of an active search committee, but would like to complete the faculty search training, please send a list of employee email addresses to and we would be happy to enroll any Miami employee in the training.
