Getting Started

Interested students are highly encouraged to meet with program management or attend an informational session. Please contact program management to set up a meeting or learn the dates of upcoming informational sessions.

When to Apply

Students apply to these programs two semesters before their desired semester of participation. Applications for any given fall semester are due in November the year prior, and applications for any given spring semester are due in April the year prior.

What to Include

When applying for either of these programs, a student will need to provide an explanation of why he or she wants to participate in the program. Students can intern at startups across the country on their own, so let us know what’s driving you to be part of these programs.

You’ll need to share a link to your LinkedIn profile, your resume, and ensure you have at least a 2.25 GPA*, as this is required by Miami University for all Study Abroad and Study Away programs. You will also be required to release your disciplinary history to program staff as part of your application. Having a disciplinary history does not disqualify you from the application process and is taken into consideration on a case-by-case basis.

*Students with a GPA between a 2.0 and 2.25 may complete a petition to apply to the program. Students with a GPA below a 2.0 may not participate in the program. If a student’s GPA drops below a 2.0 between the time the student is accepted into the program and the time that the student participates, he or she will no longer be able to participate and forfeits any funds already paid toward program participation.

Admission Process

Qualified students will be selected for a brief in-person interview with program management. Students will be notified of acceptance shortly after the conclusion of all interviews. We are unable to share any admission decisions until all interviews have been completed.

Applicants who are not accepted into the program may reapply for a future semester or may be considered for other program locations. A student may not apply for the same semester again if his or her first application was not accepted.

If you are interested in applying for a future semester for which applications are not open, please contact program management to be added to the mailing list.
