Non-Degree and Non-Certificate Programs

If you have 64 or more credit hours and have a GPA of 3.00 or greater as a Miami University undergraduate student, you may request permission to enroll in 500 or 600-level graduate courses. Up to nine (9) credit hours may count toward your undergraduate degree. To do so, first obtain permission from the intended course's instructor, the department chair, and the Dean of the Graduate School, using the form linked below. With their permission, you may count the graduate course toward your major, minor, electives, and university requirements. Graduate courses taken in this manner will be treated as graduate-level CGS (non-degree) courses.

Please speak with your advisor and the course instructor before seeking permission to enroll in a graduate course.

Complete the Undergraduate Permission Form
Submit this form to your instructor, the department chair, and the Dean of the Graduate School, by the FIRST day of classes during a term.

Continuing Graduate Status

Continuing Graduate Status (CGS) students are non-degree/non-certificate-seeking students that can enroll in graduate-level courses without pursuing a graduate degree or certificate program. Up to 12 credit hours can be applied toward a graduate degree program and 4 credit hours toward a graduate certificate program.

Contact the graduate department about enrollment restrictions as departments and programs may have limited enrollment.

Application Requirements:

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
• Submit the online application
• Pay the non-refundable $20 application fee
• Provide a copy of the green card (if applicable)
