The Miami University Art Center located in Phillips Hall is the home of the popular Art Sprint Class program, which includes classes in ceramics, photography, 3D design, drawing, glasswork, jewelry, laser cutting and manufacturing techniques, and woodworking. These short-term, introductory classes are oriented towards the non-art major and are focused on hands-on, experiential learning.
Art Center instructors are working artists and educators who love creating the opportunity for others to experience the joy and enrichment that comes from artistic pursuits. All classes are limited in size to ensure each student receives personal attention and guidance
Art Center Sprint Classes are open to all Miami University students. Multiple classes are offered each semester. Each session is 7 weeks, meeting once per week. Student reviews cite Art Center sprint classes as one of the most enjoyable educational experiences at Miami.
To register for a sprint course, use the standard online Miami University registration process. Sprint courses are listed as “T” for the first seven weeks and “U” for the second seven-week sessions.
