Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities—Essential Functions

  • Maintains complete, accurate, and up-to-date files and computer databases on employees.
  • Oversees daily work for specific area in Personnel; makes first line determination; forwarding more complex issues to appropriate individual. Answer routine questions regarding policies and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of intermediate to complex administrative tasks which may include processing requests to fill vacant positions and tracking amounts spent versus budgeted on specific positions; processing forms and employment agreements, benefit enrollment forms; reconciling and paying invoices for university benefits; compile data for reports, review and process payments, check for accuracy and appropriateness; inputs information into university computer system.
  • Assists with special projects; setting and maintaining project schedule; ensuring completion of project in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information.
  • Performs a variety of clerical tasks which may include answering phones and referring calls, typing materials, and copying.

Reporting Relationships

Direction Received: Reports to head of administrative unit (i.e. Sr. Director, Director, etc.)

Direction Given: Monitoring and training of student employees

Minimum Requirements

Requires twelve months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise. Ability to maintain confidential information required.

Working Conditions

Periodic assignments given which entail dealing with slightly unpleasant physical conditions such as long exposure to computer monitors
