Biography
… received her Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from Indiana University in 2012. Since then Dr. Soper completed a post-doc at the University of Iowa, spent one and a half years as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Beloit College, and is now currently in a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Dallas. Dr. Soper’s Ph.D. and postdoctoral work focused on a the reproduction of a freshwater snail from New Zealand, but in the last five years her work has shifted to better understanding species distribution and abundance of aquatic organisms. Three major projects currently make up the bulk of research in the Soper Lab; each one involves collaborations with external agencies such as Mote Marine Lab and NOAA. Dr. Soper enjoys instructing graduate-level students for Project Dragonfly because at the University of Dallas she works exclusively with undergraduate students. She also enjoys engaging in student project development and facilitating class discussions in the online environment.
