Dr. Amy SummervilleDr. Amy Summerville is an Associate Professor of social psychology at Miami University. Amy has been at Miami since receiving her PhD in social psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008.


Graduate Students

Brielle JohnsonBrielle Johnson is a graduate student in the social psychology PhD program at Miami University. Brielle attended Grand Valley State University, where she received a B.S. in psychology and sociology with a minor in women, gender, and sexuality studies. At Miami, her research broadly explores topics of existential psychology and decision-making. More specifically, she is interested in understanding how thoughts and emotions influence individuals’ perceptions of meaning and belonging. Her current research focuses on the experiences of death awareness and regret as well as the importance of personal relationships.

Woo J. KimWoo J. Kim is a graduate student in the social psychology PhD program at Miami University. His educational background includes a M.S. in Hospitality Management and B.A.A. in Tourism Management from Sejong University and Jeju National University respectively in South Korea. His research explores the social cognitive factors influencing individual’s emotions and thoughts as well as the effects of these emotions and thoughts, with a particular focus on regret and counterfactual thinking.
