Town-Gown Lunchtime Interfaith Book Club
The book club is a welcoming space that seeks to build relationships between campus and community leaders through reflective discussion of our values, spirituality, and faith or secular identities. How do these present challenges, opportunities, and motivations to extend hospitality across lines of difference? As staff, faculty, and community leaders, how do we provide leadership for students on how to encounter difference in ways that foster respect and understanding, even if not always agreement?
Oxford community members and Miami faculty and staff are welcome to participate. Lunch and books are provided at no cost to participants.

This year's book is Educating about Religious Diversity and Interfaith Engagement, co-edited by META Collectivist Kathy Goodman, along with Interfaith Youth Core staff members Eboo Patel and Mary Ellen Geiss.
Although this book was written for university professionals working in student affairs, we will discuss how the book is relevant to all interested in interfaith engagement.
We will meet on three Fridays in the fall:
- October 4, 11, and 18
- 12:00-1:30 p.m.
- Interfaith Center (16 S. Campus Avenue, Oxford)
We welcome you even if you are able to commit to only one or two of the three dates.
Lunch and a copy of the book will be provided. Each day's discussion will focus on selected pages from the book; you are not expected or required to read the entire book or whole chapters to participate.
