Biography

Dr. Fadel M. Megahed is an Associate Professor of Information Systems & Analytics at Miami University. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo. 

His research focuses on creating new tools to store, organize, analyze, model, and visualize the large heterogeneous data sets associated with modern manufacturing, healthcare, and service environments. His work in these areas has been funded by Aflac, The American Society for Safety Engineers (ASSE) Foundation, GE Research, Gore, The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and The National Science Foundation (NSF). Dr. Megahed has 40 peer-reviewed journal papers, 2 invited editorials/discussions, and 11 conference proceedings. His research findings and views have been covered by over 50 media articles. 

Dr. Megahed is the Editor-Elect for the Case Study Section for the Journal of Quality Technology. He has received numerous teaching and research awards. At Miami University, he received the Student Recognition of Teaching Excellence Award (Fall 2020), 13 faculty commendations for his impact on students' learning and development (2018-2020), and was the Neil R. Anderson Endowed Assistant Professor (2019-2020). In addition, he was the recipient of the Career Development Award from the NIOSH Deep South Center for Occupational Health and Safety (2013), and the Mary G. and Joseph Natrella Scholarship from the Quality and Productivity Section of the American Statistical Association (2012).
