Karen consults and is involved nationally in the areas of healthcare, insurance, catastrophic injury settlements, elder law, government benefits, and patient advocacy.

Karen is the lead caregiver for her catastrophically injured mother who is part of a national continuity of care study and was one of the "covergirls" for federal legislation involving long term acute care hospitals.
