David Dotson
Education and Background
David Dotson is the Preparator and Building Manager at the Art Museum. He is responsible for preparing spaces and art objects for exhibition, storage, conservation, and transportation as well as maintaining the Sculpture Park located on the Museum grounds.
David has a long history with the University. He worked at both Finkelman Auditorium and the Art Museum in the past, and has also been a student and instructor at Miami.
David is a visual artist with an international exhibition and residency record. He served in the U.S. Army during the Persian Gulf War and later received both his BFA and MFA in Sculpture from Miami University. David has worked as an exhibition artist at the Cincinnati Zoological and Botanical Gardens as well as designing and fabricating custom steel works at Republic Design in Cincinnati Ohio. He resides in Milford Township with his wife, daughter, and stepson, where he is also a volunteer firefighter.
David is currently working on creating 3-dimensional scans of art objects in the Museum to allow greater access and visibility of the collection. These scans will not only permit Virtual use of the collection, but will also enable the Art Museum to 3-D print objects to be used in educational settings.
